As I read a new book I like, I will post it as a recommendation and maybe some of you will join me in reading it. I will also let you know what I’ve got on hold at my library and am looking forward to reading (it could be a new book coming out or maybe a new author or series I’ve discovered). Looking forward to having you read a mystery with –Mary E. <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="background: white; color: black; mso-color-alt: windowtext;">There are so many bestselling
mystery authors coming out with new books in March that you better start
putting holds on all your favorites right now. Harlan Coben’s “The Match” is
his second book in the Wilde series. C. J. Box’s “Shadows Reel” is his 22nd
book in the Joe Pickett series. Stuart Woods has “A Safe House” coming out
which is his 61st Stone Barrington mystery novel. “What Happened to
the Benefits” is Lisa Scottoline’s latest standalone novel. Janet Evanovich
launch’s a new series with “The Recovery Agent” featuring Gabriela Rose as a
recovery agent. Jude Deveraux’s fourth book in her Medlar Mystery series is “A
Relative Murder.” Fern Michaels latest domestic thriller is “Fear Thy
Neighbor.” Phillip Margolin’s fifth book in his Robin Lockwood series is “The
Darkest Place.” Jacqueline Winspear’s 17th novel in the Maisie Dobbs
series is “A Sunlit Weapon.” If that isn’t enough for you, April brings two of
our biggest mystery authors David Baldacci and John Sandford coming out with
new books which no one will want to miss. Baldacci’s “Dream Team” is the third
in his Aloysius Archer series. Sandford starts a new series with Letty

good time to mention an author that you may have missed that you simply don’t
want to miss. If you didn’t read Darby Kane’s “Pretty Little Wife,” you need to
make sure you do so right now. The book is a domestic suspense novel with so
many twists and turns that you will stay up all night and call in sick the next
day to see what is going to happen next. Now to top it all off, her second book
“The Replacement Wife” just came out last month. Which means when you finish
the first, you’ll have another great book to look forward to.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

teenage daughter and to solve the murder of her brutally murdered neighbors.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="background: white; color: black; mso-color-alt: windowtext;">It’s been five years since Joanne
Harris added a book to the St. Oswald series called “A Narrow Door.” It seems
the time has come for this boy’s prep school to open it’s doors to girls and to
a headmistress. The new headmistress, Rebecca Buckfast, is ruthlessly
ambitious. It seems she killed to get the job and may have to kill again to
keep her secrets buried.</span><span style="background: white;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="background: white; color: black; mso-color-alt: windowtext;">Noah Hawley’s “Anthem” takes the
world’s current insanity to a whole new level. Starting with a pandemic of teen
suicide, he makes it personal by following a young man who is trying to recover
from his sister’s death and finds himself on a quest to end the pandemic which
is somehow tied to a man known as the Wizard. This book is an adventure
thriller which goes down the road to redemption. It is more thriller than
mystery, but is worth mentioning here because of the times we live in and the
impact it is having on reviewers.</span><span style="background: white;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="background: white; color: black; mso-color-alt: windowtext;">In “Find Me” by Alafair Burke, Hope

<p class="MsoNormal">So many books are being turned into movies or series these
days that you cannot even begin to keep up. The 1957 Patricia Highsmith novel “Deep

turning another Agatha Christie novel into a movie (“Death on the Nile”). Hugh
Laurie is directing a limited series from another Agatha Christie called “Why
Didn’t They Ask Evans?” A new book called “Argylle” by Ellie Conway is already
being turned into a movie. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>“Luckiest Girl
Alive” by Jessica Knoll will star Mila Kunis is set to come out this year. It
looks like there will be so many that this list will grow and grow so enjoy a

famous quotes is about the evil lurking in the English countryside (<span style="background: white; font-family: Georgia, serif;">"They
always fill me with a certain horror. It is my belief, Watson, founded upon my
experience, that the lowest and vilest alleys in London do not present a
more dreadful record of sin than does the smiling and beautiful
countryside"). Many of the books I am featuring today fit right in with
that belief. Small towns have their own secrets, hidden knowledge, vile
coverups, anger, and finally revenge. Interestingly enough, it seems that it
doesn’t matter where you go in the world, small towns are all the same as you

western United States “drys” up, it might be a good time to read “The Dry” by
Jane Harper. Harper was born in England, but now lives in Australia and her
side details about the ravages of the drought hitting Australia may strike a
little close to home while adding a disquieting urgency to the novel which
centers around the murder of a young family by the father who proceeds to kill
himself. His childhood friend is now a policeman and is struck by several
oddities which seem to point to murder by someone other than his old friend. This
novel first came out in 2017 and was followed up by another mystery with the
same hero (Policeman Aaron Falk). If you missed this series, it is time to go

Pushkin is a Railway Engineer in the quiet, small town of Roslazny in Russia,
but is striving to be a bestselling author. It doesn’t take long for Pushkin to
become involved in drama and secrets which include Poison-pen letters, a small-town

novel. Not everyone’s first novel is turned into a movie like David Baldacci’s
“Absolute Power” or end up writing over 50 books like Baldacci. Some authors
only write one really famous book which was all they needed to do. Edgar Allan
Poe only wrote one novel “The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket.”
Most of the Sherlock Holmes books are collections of short stories. The point
is that when you come upon a new author you just never know, but you always
hope.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-GJi-nMjgPH0/YXCr92T9fvI/AAAAAAAAB2Y/pUNI6SwqYJsOU7BJg-2U_rOuwvmIpwY9gCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="350" data-original-width="800" height="140" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-GJi-nMjgPH0/YXCr92T9fvI/AAAAAAAAB2Y/pUNI6SwqYJsOU7BJg-2U_rOuwvmIpwY9gCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><br /><p></p>MEJhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09415339480816379299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4275821716206330068.post-53741003491278705952021-09-30T15:34:00.000-07:002021-09-30T15:34:14.257-07:00<p> <span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-size: 12pt; text-align: justify;">While
series mysteries are some of the most popular items on a library shelf, there
are still many standalone novels that come out every month. Series books may be
big best sellers for many authors, but standalones also break through and
become bestsellers. There are famous authors known for their series, but most
of them also write a standalone on occasion. Sometimes it seems that we only
remember series books because of movies such as all the Sherlock Holmes movies,
Hercule Poirot (Agatha Christie), Rex Stout’s Nero Wolf, and so on. However,
lots of new suspense thriller movies start out as standalone novels such as
“The Girl on a Train” by Paula Hawkins and “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn. So
here are a few more standalone novels for September and some may be destined
for future greatness.</span></p><p> <a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-oj4FQMS-BJs/YVY6PPXe0WI/AAAAAAAAB1U/u0vRNF-bBP82_SQYXi1iqBGCCecqW2cdQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="background-color: white; font-size: 12pt; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="284" data-original-width="177" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-oj4FQMS-BJs/YVY6PPXe0WI/AAAAAAAAB1U/u0vRNF-bBP82_SQYXi1iqBGCCecqW2cdQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="150" /></a></p>

explore some of the book origins of some of our most well-known and beloved
movies and TV shows. I always look up a movie and see if it was based on a book
I missed. Agatha Christie’s novel “And Then There Were None” (aka “Ten Little
Indians”) was a standalone novel.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>There
are many mysteries that came out years ago that are still worth reading and
exploring. One of Dashiell Hammett’s standalone novels that you might consider
is “The Glass Key.” A more recent but fascinating standalone mystery is
Catherine Steadman’s “Something in the Water.” If you missed Blake Crouch’s
mystery books you might want to try “Snowbound.” As usual, lots to read and
explore. to read mysteries that introduce us to other cultures and explore intrigues
from around the world. Authors such as Volker Kutscher (Germany), Charles
Cumming (Scotland), Joe Nesbo (Norway), Carlos Ruiz Zafon (Spain), Val McDermid
(Scotland), Louise Penny (Canada) and so many others have expanded our world
view and given use unforgettable mysteries that have entertained and
enlightened us. The following new books fall under this umbrella. Two of the
following authors are American authors, but one writes about Americans in Paris
and the other about World War II.</span></p>

you enjoy a good series, August finds some amazingly famous bestselling mystery
authors adding books to series that you do not want to miss. I spend a lot of

taking the character. August also finds the latest from James Lee Burke and
William Kent Krueger and many others. There is certainly a lot to look forward

serial killer novels or intense psychological thrillers, a good cozy is just
what you need to bring your blood pressure down to normal levels and step back
from the ledge. Luckily this month there are any number of cozies coming out.
Holly Danvers released a new cozy series this month with the first book in the Lakeside
Library series called “Murder at the Lakeside Library.” Esme Addison just added
a second book to her Enchanted Bay mystery series called “A Hex for Danger.” Popular
Canadian author Vicki Delany added a second book to her Tea by the Sea series
called “Murder in a Teacup.” Kaitlyn Dunnett added a fourth book to her Deadly
Edits series called “Murder She Edited.” The very popular G.A. McKevett adds
the 26th novel to her Savannah Reid series this month which is
called “A Few Drops of Bitters.” July is definitely an excellent month for cozy
murder mysteries with all the above coming out and the following as well.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #333333; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-style: italic; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ds55MLvb_vo/YPzEBsOCBcI/AAAAAAAABxw/wHca7GkU79Ak89F5Q_wwjeqU4PbMgZW_QCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="142" data-original-width="355" height="128" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ds55MLvb_vo/YPzEBsOCBcI/AAAAAAAABxw/wHca7GkU79Ak89F5Q_wwjeqU4PbMgZW_QCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p>

mystery novels whether they are amateur detective, domestic fiction, or center
on a police detective seem to delve into unresolved issues which the main
character is forced to deal with throughout the book and sometimes throughout
the series. These books are very personal journeys that the character must take
to resolve grief or childhood trauma. Paula McLain’s (“When the Stars Go Dark”)
latest very much falls into that category as does Liz Moore’s “Long Bright
River” which came out in 2020. While the main character in” Long Bright River” is
a police officer, her journey deals with her own family drama, addiction, and
ultimately social problems and the failure of the police.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ADRjKiaKbvw/YKpvxur2gZI/AAAAAAAABu0/C7wvBrXZR98Ivb6zXH_XGKUhbiUUkvaiQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="276" data-original-width="183" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ADRjKiaKbvw/YKpvxur2gZI/AAAAAAAABu0/C7wvBrXZR98Ivb6zXH_XGKUhbiUUkvaiQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="159" /></a><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6kLvsPjYApM/YKpwAnbL6OI/AAAAAAAABu4/Xq5XAz7Sfjo03cM618FAQHBtUrvozWyMACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="276" data-original-width="186" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6kLvsPjYApM/YKpwAnbL6OI/AAAAAAAABu4/Xq5XAz7Sfjo03cM618FAQHBtUrvozWyMACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="162" /></a><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-SdJZqu_jlBA/YKpwNhxD0_I/AAAAAAAABvA/7FxaAw6MMQg8AfIJE3UhzLlHRZ-FiNiNwCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="276" data-original-width="183" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-SdJZqu_jlBA/YKpwNhxD0_I/AAAAAAAABvA/7FxaAw6MMQg8AfIJE3UhzLlHRZ-FiNiNwCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="159" /></a><br /></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">We are living in an amazing time when there are
so many great books available to read that it is impossible to read even a
small percentage of the books that look interesting. In addition, the mystery
genre has expanded to include thrillers, paranormal, suspense, and so much
more. Many of these books may not be what we once considered traditional
mysteries, but many have mystery elements which are well worth reading. One
such book is “The Drowning Kind” by Jennifer McMahon which is her latest standalone
about a woman who returns home after her sister drowns in the family’s swimming
pool only to find that a family’s past is never really behind us. This scary
thriller has a mystery element, but is really horror. If you haven’t read
McMahon’s horror thriller’s, she might be an author worth considering
especially if you like a little blend of mystery and ghost story.<o:p></o:p></p>MEJhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09415339480816379299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4275821716206330068.post-65777343630224913192021-04-04T11:14:00.000-07:002021-04-04T11:14:57.363-07:00<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="162" data-original-width="311" height="167" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-t_f1yK8bsiQ/YGn_9eF12WI/AAAAAAAABsY/gQywQZZTfnUgJzfRYWrF-NUPXICSCLucQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="320" /></div><p></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;"><i><span style="color: #333333; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">Reading right now:<o:p></o:p></span></i></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">April is showering mystery
readers with some great books including two written by some of my favorite
authors: John Sandford and C.S. Harris. No month is better than a month that
brings a new book by an author that I love. Finding a great new author is the constant
quest of those of us who love to read. We find a great book and pray that more
will follow. The secret is to keep reading new authors to find a new favorite author to add to our already long list. Good hunting.<o:p></o:p></p>MEJhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09415339480816379299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4275821716206330068.post-20287716419521097422021-03-24T14:08:00.000-07:002021-03-24T14:08:08.239-07:00<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b><span style="font-size: large;">MEDICAL MYSTERY/THRILLERS</span></b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="477" data-original-width="316" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-jlURVTiHHso/YFugmZdgRpI/AAAAAAAABrE/sbWZX3IMG0IQ1xslZ-oTwXYNJqf1bHuHACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="159" /><img alt="" data-original-height="486" data-original-width="316" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-esZp_V1NjUM/YFulmVKujnI/AAAAAAAABr8/GlSqSE-TtxEYZVk4fU5PXr4HOsxWwHK3QCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="156" /><img alt="" data-original-height="488" data-original-width="316" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2jOaqKo3aSs/YFulQbsT4cI/AAAAAAAABr0/Nzd4dxzE74MJSgBJAo9OXly5So9KHzyJwCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="155" /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-FPDkSzQmiYY/YFujt3y3UmI/AAAAAAAABrs/WjdWwLSofhowO6IO1BTETAUtAIb46iongCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="477" data-original-width="316" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-FPDkSzQmiYY/YFujt3y3UmI/AAAAAAAABrs/WjdWwLSofhowO6IO1BTETAUtAIb46iongCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="159" /></a><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-s9lWDsqKMJE/YFujRe5FEiI/AAAAAAAABrk/1frBhKrb24A65AnWz4WPuzzEzuZPpcs9ACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="200" data-original-width="200" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-s9lWDsqKMJE/YFujRe5FEiI/AAAAAAAABrk/1frBhKrb24A65AnWz4WPuzzEzuZPpcs9ACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-PdZ7xi-Or2s/YFuicQ293sI/AAAAAAAABrc/WjQPmallWZMgVYT0T_4jA9ykMRT7n9hNgCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="313" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-PdZ7xi-Or2s/YFuicQ293sI/AAAAAAAABrc/WjQPmallWZMgVYT0T_4jA9ykMRT7n9hNgCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="150" /></a><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-TsWhrjwIzpY/YFuhvkujXcI/AAAAAAAABrU/zvsoJ8gRuW8LeBxp9EuP2Wg4SiUuKsjxQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="474" data-original-width="316" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-TsWhrjwIzpY/YFuhvkujXcI/AAAAAAAABrU/zvsoJ8gRuW8LeBxp9EuP2Wg4SiUuKsjxQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="160" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="462" data-original-width="316" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-h2j-vlG3B7I/YFuhKLhduZI/AAAAAAAABrM/nlFzy8AdqlkOy5ZSSgNHISYzD2w0YosJgCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="164" /><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-yi2lPxrPY_Q/YFun3Yv3D3I/AAAAAAAABsE/itK2k5wqUksEzVl58VmI32ForXtvlOwOgCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; display: inline !important;"><img alt="" data-original-height="300" data-original-width="201" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nRWh-z7HDDw/YFuoAakCvCI/AAAAAAAABsI/9cpPHEIRDWog3zD3PSn0HLOA-bfMFabnwCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="161" /></div></a><br /><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-yi2lPxrPY_Q/YFun3Yv3D3I/AAAAAAAABsE/itK2k5wqUksEzVl58VmI32ForXtvlOwOgCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #0000ee;"><u><br /></u></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #0000ee;"><u><br /></u></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #0000ee;"><u><br /></u></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><p style="text-align: justify;">I currently have carpel tunnel syndrome so have

is a sub-genre called Romantic Suspense. Romantic Suspense was tremendously
popular with such authors as Mary Stewart and Mary Higgins Clark (who passed
away last year). Modern authors are still writing Romantic Suspense which
continues to be fairly popular. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>One of
the most popular books of all time within this sub-genre is “Rebecca” by Daphne
Du Maurier. Today authors like Catherine Coulter, Karen Robards, Sandra Brown,
Nora Roberts, Anne Stuart, Angel, Marie Force, Nalini Singh, Deanna Raybourn, Laura
Lippman, Mary Burton, and Elisabeth Naughton are writing Romantic Suspense novels
which are huge bestsellers. If this sub-genre isn’t already your favorite, read
one of these books and you might find a new love.</p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">.<img alt="" data-original-height="285" data-original-width="177" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-aU8T8cRsZTY/YClf44-KgHI/AAAAAAAABo8/kXEkB7wvzCAezwzzqq7PfYQloUhn75pqgCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="149" /><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-v9YfQxZKwkg/YClgPf4zxOI/AAAAAAAABpE/xhjk_ZTYBvU6DKNEKcliwnSwpXKDIZqrACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="288" data-original-width="175" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-v9YfQxZKwkg/YClgPf4zxOI/AAAAAAAABpE/xhjk_ZTYBvU6DKNEKcliwnSwpXKDIZqrACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="146" /></a><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Nq_UUe_M8RU/YClgbvA8VYI/AAAAAAAABpI/_T80jU7JVOkwHHzJPrzVCbzv6YtLfEI8ACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="499" data-original-width="306" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Nq_UUe_M8RU/YClgbvA8VYI/AAAAAAAABpI/_T80jU7JVOkwHHzJPrzVCbzv6YtLfEI8ACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="147" /></a><br /></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">I recently discovered “Don’t Look”
which is the first in the Pike, Wisconsin series by Alexander Ivy. It looks
like the second book in the series is coming out in August and that the books
are not going to have the same characters, but instead be focused on the town
of Pike and those that come into danger there. I just finished “Don’t Look” and
really enjoyed the mystery and the romance between the two main characters. When
residents of Pike start being displayed in the snow with their throats cut, the
son of Pike’s late sheriff comes back for the funeral only to find himself in
the middle of the mystery and falling for vet Lynne Gale who could well be the
next victim.</p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><img alt="" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="331" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-_DL5IRD07-8/YClgqvMLd-I/AAAAAAAABpQ/XHRYWs-My7gHwrQnGJfShObMOpcODmy7QCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="159" /><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-aIMWNNBgNYU/YClg4YE6A9I/AAAAAAAABpY/RXjvH-HRcok8WZoALbz97UdtxniK51B2QCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="276" data-original-width="183" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-aIMWNNBgNYU/YClg4YE6A9I/AAAAAAAABpY/RXjvH-HRcok8WZoALbz97UdtxniK51B2QCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="159" /></a><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1qRx7sZXzKQ/YClhCpzCEII/AAAAAAAABpg/Iwgvf9N4veE0AT9-0BynIqfwavzH-2GlACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="287" data-original-width="175" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1qRx7sZXzKQ/YClhCpzCEII/AAAAAAAABpg/Iwgvf9N4veE0AT9-0BynIqfwavzH-2GlACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="146" /></a><br /></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Deanna Raybourn’s sixth book in
the Veronica Speedwell mystery series “An Unexpected Peril” continues Veronica’s
world adventures in 1889 where she pursues scientific inquiry and sometimes
romantic adventures. A princess is missing, a peace treaty is endangered, and Veronica’s
resemblance to the missing princess is about to place her right in the middle
of a political nightmare as well as a murder.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Ten years ago, socialite Nina Rai
disappeared. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Her bones have now been found
in the forest that surrounds her elite neighborhood. Her son Aarav needs to
know the truth behind the scream he heard in the middle of the night she
disappeared. Unfortunately for him the rich like to keep their secrets and have
the money to bury them. Nalini Singh’s latest stand-alone is “Quiet in Her
Bones.”<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“Driven” is the fourth book in
Rebecca Zanetti’s Deep Ops series. Angus Force is searching for a serial killer
he thought he had shot dead. When shrink Nari Zhang is thrown into the case,
the killer becomes obsessed with her. Angus fights his own attraction to Nari
as he tries to keep her out of the hands of a ruthless killer.</p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><img alt="" data-original-height="276" data-original-width="203" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-YZ6DGQ1F-vY/YClhRxvhAtI/AAAAAAAABps/b1mQbNnEocckAPrL-ZTyvZupAfVuZN4qACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="177" /><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ET2OKSFzyQ4/YCliHqZdVwI/AAAAAAAABqE/er0qSOdxiZcGbod0yaAk1dU_7mPTBHzBwCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="276" data-original-width="182" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ET2OKSFzyQ4/YCliHqZdVwI/AAAAAAAABqE/er0qSOdxiZcGbod0yaAk1dU_7mPTBHzBwCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="158" /></a><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-PEjD4jmB2EU/YCliP_iWG4I/AAAAAAAABqI/sa6roNKGtzEdoixPS6ldJV1XiWUrZX7AACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="292" data-original-width="173" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-PEjD4jmB2EU/YCliP_iWG4I/AAAAAAAABqI/sa6roNKGtzEdoixPS6ldJV1XiWUrZX7AACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="142" /></a><br /></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><i><span style="background: white;">Other MysteriousThings:</span></i></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Many mystery authors have written
books that center around Valentine’s Day including Charlot King’s sixth book in
the Cambridge Murder mystery series called “Valentine’s Day: Kiss of Death.” Kathleen
Suzette’s 18th book in her Pumpkin Hollow mystery series is “Deadly
Valentine.” Daniel Hurst’s latest in his 20 minute series is “20 Minutes of
Valentine’s Day.” There is always the older books by authors who enjoy writing
mystery novels centered around holidays like Isis Crawford’s “A Catered
Valentine’s Day” and Leslie Meier’s “Valentine Murder.” Also M.C. Beaton’s “Death
of a Valentine” and Joanna Carl’s “The Chocolate Cupid Killings.” These should be
enough mystery novels to keep you busy for Valentine’s Day and engaged in
mysterious romance for some time.<o:p></o:p></p>MEJhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09415339480816379299noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4275821716206330068.post-60838900828639297322021-01-31T12:24:00.000-08:002021-01-31T12:24:08.180-08:00<p><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; text-align: justify;">Travel is a great experience, but sometimes

revenge to the forefront of this unnerving psychological thriller set in Vienna.
Raabe writes stand-alone novels and her first book “The Trap” also centered
around revenge. In “The Shadow,” Norah Richter is walking to work when she is
accosted by a homeless woman who tells her that she is going to kill Arthur
Grimm on February 11. Richter soon meets an Arthur Grimm and begins to realize
that her past has caught up with her and she may just have a reason to kill
Grimm.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

murder victim was a photographer who was trying to photograph ghosts in the church

mystery, Sarah is also dragged back into her family’s dark past which forced
her father into hiding from a murder charge. All of Sarah’s fascinating friends
are back while they all try to cope with how their lives are changing
especially with Sarah now married.</p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-kaXdrpO1YZg/YAYw7-kVDqI/AAAAAAAABmo/wuVX7FFOZ4IBBwq42LZt3QnqxHFinHd8QCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="277" data-original-width="182" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-kaXdrpO1YZg/YAYw7-kVDqI/AAAAAAAABmo/wuVX7FFOZ4IBBwq42LZt3QnqxHFinHd8QCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="158" /></a><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-WZ-1OPzX2CA/YAYxKpjmAnI/AAAAAAAABms/EKdhhffzSeEu4qx08YCXGHhHssoY5yqRgCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="278" data-original-width="181" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-WZ-1OPzX2CA/YAYxKpjmAnI/AAAAAAAABms/EKdhhffzSeEu4qx08YCXGHhHssoY5yqRgCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="156" /></a><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-LuipocY6Z1g/YAYxXYNUgvI/AAAAAAAABm0/Xx7kOebEm08NeS4V3jE-J6Rmq5BDvc6UwCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="276" data-original-width="183" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-LuipocY6Z1g/YAYxXYNUgvI/AAAAAAAABm0/Xx7kOebEm08NeS4V3jE-J6Rmq5BDvc6UwCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="159" /></a><br /></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><i><span style="background: white; color: #333333; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">On hold right no<a name="mary-crow"></a>w:</span></i><span style="background: white; color: #333333; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-style: italic; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;"> <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">There were several historical mysteries that came out in December
that are must reads. “The Mystery of Mrs. Christie” by Marie Benedict is an
exciting take on why Agatha Christie disappeared for 11 days in 1926. Alys Clare’s
second novel in the World’s End Bureau Victorian Mystery series is out and is
called “The Outcast Girls.” Clare’s series is definitely one not to miss. “Marion
Lane and the Midnight Murder” is T.A. Willberg’s first book which takes place
in London in 1958. Harald Gilbers’ first book is also the first in a new
series. Called “Germania” it takes place in Berlin in 1944 where Jewish detective
Richard Oppenheimer hunts for a serial killer in war-torn Nazi Berlin. <o:p></o:p></p>MEJhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09415339480816379299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4275821716206330068.post-34894998787938303682021-01-10T14:47:00.001-08:002021-01-10T14:47:33.909-08:00<p><br /></p>

Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. If you are a mystery lover and

introduce them to Sherlock and see what happens. If you want to go back in time
but not as far as Sherlock Holmes take a look at the early Ed McBain and John
D. MacDonald mysteries. </span><span style="color: black; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;">“The Beast Must Die” by Nicholas

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">If you want a good laugh,
you must try Carl Hiaasen’s mystery novels. If you get English humor try the
2020 humorous “The Thursday Murder Club” by Richard Osman. Other funny mystery

Kellye Garrett, and Tim Dorsey. Humor is something really needed right now so definitely
try one of these and you can always fall back on Janet Evanovich.</p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><img alt="" data-original-height="276" data-original-width="182" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-cZiRSDI4Cx0/X-JXP-EHUTI/AAAAAAAABjM/DMaqcitBJXUUbHlaOHB2i5uRHKTK6bpOwCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="158" /><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-iMzQkfEpi48/X-JXdN7EA2I/AAAAAAAABjQ/E-KJOwadETQWw7Jvk_f5vJRnqciTxW_HQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="277" data-original-width="182" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-iMzQkfEpi48/X-JXdN7EA2I/AAAAAAAABjQ/E-KJOwadETQWw7Jvk_f5vJRnqciTxW_HQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="158" /></a><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-jZA7ftS77w4/X-JXpmHNCXI/AAAAAAAABjU/CaWyX79tsHoWMYCeOlQzmkbghdgLjNNcACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="293" data-original-width="195" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-jZA7ftS77w4/X-JXpmHNCXI/AAAAAAAABjU/CaWyX79tsHoWMYCeOlQzmkbghdgLjNNcACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="160" /></a><br /></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">We live in a time when
there are so many amazing books to read that you just cannot get around to them
all and 2020 has not disappointed in this area. All of the following are must
read mysteries that came out this year. For a dark, creepy domestic thriller do
not miss “Magpie Lane” by Lucy Atkins.
Helen Fields “Perfect Kill” is the sixth book in Helen Fields’ DI
Callanach series (the first was “Perfect Remains). “Good Girl, Bad Girl” was the first in a new
series by Michael Robotham and he followed it up this year with “When She was
Good.” This legal thriller series started off with “Summary Justice” and now
the third in the series is“Forced Confessions” by John Fairfax. Walter Mosley has had a long career with many
awards and many amazing books. He newest is “Trouble is What I Do” which is the
first book in a series that started with “The Long Fall.” Lisa Jewel’s most
recent stand-alone is “Invisible Girl," Simone St. James’ latest is a bit of
a horror book which is alright with me because it is amazing and you can always
go back and read the rest of her mystery books (“The Sun Down Motel”). “The Night Swim” by Megan Goldin is another
great mystery from this timely author. Austrian author Christian White has
written two amazing mysteries with the latest being “The Wife and the Widow.”<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">All of these mysteries
will make your hours at home go by quickly and make them much more fun.<o:p></o:p></p><table border="0" cellpadding="0" class="MsoNormalTable" style="mso-cellspacing: 1.2pt; mso-padding-alt: 0in 0in 0in 0in; mso-yfti-tbllook: 1184; width: 100%px;"><tbody>

Cookie Cozies” is a collection of mysteries by Gretchen Allen, et al. Peggy

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Jeff Lindsay’s “Fool Me Twice” is
the second in the Riley Wolfe series. Once upon a time Lindsay wrote the Dexter
series and probably could have retired after the television deals, but instead
he is writing a new series about another bad guy who is a master thief. Wolfe
is a modern day Robin Hood who gets kidnapped by an arms dealer who wants a
fresco stolen from the Vatican. His message to Riley is “do it or die.”
Unfortunately, another arms deader wants a double cross or he will kill the
woman Riley loves.</p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><img alt="" data-original-height="276" data-original-width="184" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-cNMphgfNcUQ/X9VTKfwTSsI/AAAAAAAABfQ/ty7tBUK97p42yU_shQichimbH0w2OiVjACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="160" /><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-of9erQzytCo/X9VTeWy6ufI/AAAAAAAABfY/uxL4b5puTZ0xriMMmiSlJIjFiGPmoxl7wCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="275" data-original-width="183" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-of9erQzytCo/X9VTeWy6ufI/AAAAAAAABfY/uxL4b5puTZ0xriMMmiSlJIjFiGPmoxl7wCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="160" /></a><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-40Qxdsvyx8M/X9VTo7BSGAI/AAAAAAAABfc/cmy0rk_exDo9Ovs0lIkhl6OaKLpM09GpQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="275" data-original-width="183" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-40Qxdsvyx8M/X9VTo7BSGAI/AAAAAAAABfc/cmy0rk_exDo9Ovs0lIkhl6OaKLpM09GpQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="160" /></a><br /><br /></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Tami Hoag’s third book in the
Broussard and Fourcade series is “Bad Liar.” In their latest case, Broussard
and Fourcade find that the disappearance of a successful business man with a
loving family is no simple hunting accident. Instead his life was full of
secrets that start to unravel as the detectives looks closely at his life.<span style="background: white; color: #333333; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-style: italic; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“Leave No Trace” is the fifth
book in the FBI K-9 series by Sara Driscoll. FBI handler Meg Jennings and her
K-9 partner head to George to investigate the death of two different victims of
an arrow through the heart. While investigating the deaths, more victims are
being killed and the motive seems to lie a past that needs to be uncovered.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">J.D. Kirk’s ninth book in the DCI
Logan series is “A Snowball’s Chance in Hell.” After DCI Jack Logan discovers
that a young man who was found on a snowy street frozen to death was actually
tortured and killed, he finds that the killer is “The Iceman” who has embarked
on a second wave of vigilante justice.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“Wrong Alibi” is the first in a
new series by Christina Dodd. The series actually opened with a novella called
“Right Motive” which came out last month. Set in Rockin, Alaska the book
introduced new police officer Gabriella Donatti. In “Wrong Alibi” Evelyn Jones
gets hired by Donald White and when he disappears she is accused and convicted
for his murder. She escapes and goes into hiding under an alias until one day
Donald White returns and Evelyn becomes a hunter.</p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><img alt="" data-original-height="275" data-original-width="183" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-P0JWmj4RAVM/X9VT2r8jo7I/AAAAAAAABfk/z38mu9GQHbgtR3YzLOdkzWAYBhQ7fXrOACLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="160" /><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-kK5It3KeWxk/X9VUB6LLjYI/AAAAAAAABfs/Mks71x1JJTA__tu5OQ6sNkcURVlqcWRVQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="282" data-original-width="179" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-kK5It3KeWxk/X9VUB6LLjYI/AAAAAAAABfs/Mks71x1JJTA__tu5OQ6sNkcURVlqcWRVQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="152" /></a><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Y_1S2T74Ow8/X9VUN9tVCFI/AAAAAAAABf0/i887HHocqGw-zMbE-VSil7yXa8RKdvNVgCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="276" data-original-width="182" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Y_1S2T74Ow8/X9VUN9tVCFI/AAAAAAAABf0/i887HHocqGw-zMbE-VSil7yXa8RKdvNVgCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="158" /></a><br /></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">No one wants to miss the latest
addition to a series that they love so I don’t want to forget to mention the
following books. Thomas Perry’s latest is his fourth book in the Butcher’s Boy
series which is called “Eddie’s Boy.” Nick Oldham adds the 27th book
to his Henry Christie series called “Bad Timing.” “Under the Alaskan Ice” by
Karen Harper is the second book in her Alaska Wild series.<o:p></o:p></p>MEJhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09415339480816379299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4275821716206330068.post-6638069400097213022020-11-30T16:59:00.000-08:002020-11-30T16:59:39.223-08:00<p> </p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #333333; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">It’s
relaxing to read a stand-alone novel once in a while. Sometimes it feels like
every famous mystery author writes series books. Fortunately for readers who
enjoy not having to remember the history of all the characters in a mystery series,
there are plenty of stand-alone mystery novels being written. Here are just a
few that just came out.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #333333; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;"><o:p> </o:p></span><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--05I3RWqjss/X8WTf4gw4tI/AAAAAAAABdw/a2MWLtnKlgwUzDy-JRRVnk_TjzWepi4GQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1355" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--05I3RWqjss/X8WTf4gw4tI/AAAAAAAABdw/a2MWLtnKlgwUzDy-JRRVnk_TjzWepi4GQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="159" /></a><span style="color: #333333; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;"><o:p><br /><br /></o:p></span><i><span style="color: #333333; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">Reading right now:</span></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Layne Fargo’s stand-alone mystery
“They Never Learn” welcomes a new type of serial killer: <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>a female English Professor who kills just once
a year when she chooses the worst man at her university as her victim.
Unfortunately, after a few years the body count has gotten a little too high
for the authorities not to notice.</p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><img alt="" data-original-height="275" data-original-width="183" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-0tLTVlID1tA/X8WTxvbH_KI/AAAAAAAABd8/81gXCTZubgEIMCvVzoPqO6NSCg1kea6UQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="160" /><img alt="" data-original-height="278" data-original-width="181" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EKvFzaGE5uk/X8WUBnIO07I/AAAAAAAABeE/poGEorcohSg1KyWqZBuzr1OGl0O-3VB6wCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="156" /><img alt="" data-original-height="276" data-original-width="189" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-S-7EqGMYB98/X8WUMEN0xdI/AAAAAAAABeI/OhMLj-AcIo4zDgvNhLNO0fpdop4LhcA5QCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="164" /><img alt="" data-original-height="279" data-original-width="180" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-V3Od3HlVaQE/X8WUcRmDS8I/AAAAAAAABeQ/ZsnfdDzbhdwiUt6zxgSu3VQQFh67bZ-XwCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="155" /><br /><br /><i><span style="background: white; color: #333333; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">On hold right no<a name="mary-crow"></a>w:</span></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“They’re Gone” is the stand alone
debut novel from E.A. Barres. When two men are murdered in the same way on the
same night, their wives look for answers. After they join forces to look for
the truth, they find their own lives threatened.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Liz Nugent’s “Our Little Cruelties”
is a stand-alone in which the fight for their Mother’s attention becomes a
lifelong habit of three working class brothers which eventually brings about
the death of one of the brothers. Sinister family relationships are taken to
the extreme in this dark mystery novel.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“The Kingdom” is Jo Nesbo’s
latest stand-alone which reunites two brothers. One brother stayed home after
his parents died and built his life in his hometown while the other went in
search of something more. Now the adventuring brother is back with an idea to
build a spa which would make everyone rich. Unfortunately, there were deadly
secrets that are now being unearthed and the body count is rising.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“The Hidden Hours” is Sara
Foster’s new stand-alone about an office worker who is found dead in the Thames
after her office Christmas Party. The new office temp cannot remember the hours
leading up to her coworker’s death and must find the answers before she is
arrested for the murder.</p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-RsptlcbBGK8/X8WVOrdIrmI/AAAAAAAABeg/tK8aAbmuIZcmy6fnZpUeUErTGLCvhre-gCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="457" data-original-width="450" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-RsptlcbBGK8/X8WVOrdIrmI/AAAAAAAABeg/tK8aAbmuIZcmy6fnZpUeUErTGLCvhre-gCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="236" /></a></div><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="background: white; color: black; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-color-alt: windowtext; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">Other Mysterious Things:</span></i> <b><span style="background: #16193B; color: white; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 107%;"><o:p></o:p></span></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Many authors who write famous series
also sometimes write stand-alone novels. It seems like even when an author finds
a character they like, they too probably want a little variety. David Baldacci
has perhaps eight series going, but has also written a handful of stand-alone
novels. Michael Connelly has Harry Bosch and the Lincoln Lawyer which seems
like more than enough, yet he has other series going and a few stand-alone
novels. Agatha Christie wrote everything including tons of short stories.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Dashiell Hammett also wrote a bit of
everything. Raymond Chandler wrote his Philip Marlowe series and short stories.
John Grisham predominately writes stand-alone novels. Gillian Flynn and Ruth
Ware have so far written stand-alone novels. I guess the important part for
those of us who are readers is that they keep on writing great books. That’s
all we need.<o:p></o:p></p>MEJhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09415339480816379299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4275821716206330068.post-20547129880089305932020-11-25T13:00:00.000-08:002020-11-25T13:00:59.347-08:00<p> </p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #333333; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">Historical
mysteries are an amazing blend of mystery with a deep sense of a past time and
place. There are many historical mystery authors that I love so much that I
never want to miss their most recent additions including Jeri Westerson, C.S.
Harris, Andrea Penrose, D.M. Quincy, M.L. Huie, Ambrose Parry, and so many
more. We may have once thought of historical mysteries as being dominated by
English authors, but that is far from the truth today where brilliant
historical mysteries are coming from authors from all over the globe. Here are
just a few historical mystery authors from the United States with books out
this month.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

novel “Nothing More Dangerous” which actually came out last year, but the
paperback is now available. This timely novel is set in a small town in
Missouri in 1976 when the disappearance of a black woman reveals the social and
racial divides. Two teenagers, one black and one white, join forces to try to

Goodwin just introduced a brand new series with two detectives
Jasper Lightner and Hieronymus Law in “Absence of Mercy.” A string of murders
in Pre-Civil War New York bring Lightner and Law together to stop the murders
while the city’s law enforcement is falling into the hands of dangerous gangs.
This could be the start of a beautiful friendship.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><img alt="" data-original-height="252" data-original-width="252" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-g9FxpJxzsls/X77FQuC0rxI/AAAAAAAABdU/QWVz2qZtVXg194ABYilU4pKQFmAH5eRAQCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="240" /><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-dKmRyfo-3sk/X77Fx6yIMdI/AAAAAAAABdg/2-AhTYS1gYwecBLdXi4qL--7xgYc_tM5gCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="397" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-dKmRyfo-3sk/X77Fx6yIMdI/AAAAAAAABdg/2-AhTYS1gYwecBLdXi4qL--7xgYc_tM5gCLcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="159" /></a><br /><br /></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">I have to mention a few of the
best known American historical mystery authors including Laurie R. King who has
a new book coming out in December, Charles Todd who has two books coming out in
2021, and Deanna Raybourn. Not all American historical mystery authors set
their historical mysteries in the United States for instance Laurie R. King’s
Mary Russell series is set in England. Nancy Herriman, however, has a San
Francisco based mystery series which is worth reading. No matter what your
taste you should be able to find something you will love when you look closely
at historical mystery authors.<o:p></o:p></p>MEJhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09415339480816379299noreply@blogger.com0
