 Open Season

by Jonathan Kellerman

The first Alex Delaware novel came out in 1985 and is remarkably still going strong. Psychologist Alex Delaware and Homicide Detective Milo Sturgis are a team that keeps on giving. They work well together, respect each other, are good at their jobs and have fascinating cases. This time around a bizarre murder spree where there is no obvious connection between the victims keeps Alex and Milo baffled up to the very end.

Close Your Eyes and

Count to 10

by Lisa Unger

The latest standalone novel from Lisa Unger joins the list of outstanding closed circle mysteries where the novel takes place in a remote location with a small number of isolated subjects. From my reading of other books of this nature, if you are ever invited to an isolated island to play a game of hide-and-seek by some rich crazy person you should always ask if that really sounds like a good idea or the plot of a horror movie?  Supposedly the game is a social media stunt but soon turns into a test for survival within the game itself and from the raging snowstorm. While there are many of these books, so many of them have been fantastic reads and I have a feeling this one will be too.

Famous Last Words

by Gillian McAllister

Camilla has a busy morning getting her daughter off to nursery school and heading out to her first day at work so doesn’t have a lot of time to ponder the odd note her husband left her that morning. Only when she turns on news and finds out that there is a hostage situation and that her husband is the gunman holding people at bay does she start seeing the note as a clue.
