“Timetable of Death” by Edward Marston. This is the 12th book in the Detective Inspector Robert Colbeck series. In this Victorian historical mystery, a little girl finds a dead body which turns out to be the senior director of the Midland Railway. Last February, Marston started a new Bow Street rivals series called “Shadow of the Hangman.”
“Friends in High Places” by Caro
Peacock. This is the seventh book in the Private Investigator Liberty Lane
mystery series. Liberty Lane is a feisty Victorian Lady surviving by her wits
in a world where women have few options.

The Victorian era plays an important part in many
historical mystery series. The era ran from 1837 to 1901. One of the most
famous authors writing in that period is Anne Perry. In September, Perry will
release the 21st book in her fabulous William Monk series called “Corridors
of the Night.” Deanna Raybourn has
written many books, but in September she starts the new Veronica Speedwell
series called “A Curious Beginning.” “Murder on St. Nicholas Avenue” by
Victoria Thompson comes out in November and is the 18th book in the
Gaslight mystery series. Rhys Bowen’s “Malice at the Palace” is the ninth book
in the Royal Spyness series which comes out in August. Another November release
is Charles Finch’s “Home by Nightfall” the ninth book in the Charles Lenox
mystery series. In October, Tasha Alexander’s “The Adventuress” comes out which
is the tenth book in the Emily Ashton series.
